The 2016 vintage for Bordeaux may well be the finest this century, rivalling great like 2000, 1982, 1961 and 1945. Parker gave the vintage a huge 97pts. It is rare to be able to offer a great 2016 that absolutely nailed it in this great vintage. The wine got 93pt or more by no less than 5 of the top wine publications.

Chateau Corbin has a great heritage dating back to 15th century. Legend has it that these lands once belonged to the Black Prince, who fought the French at the beginning of the 100 Years War. Since 1924 the Chateau has been owned by one family and today the 4th generation Anabelle Cruse and her husband run the estate. Since 1999 Anabelle, trained as an Oenologist at prestigious Bordeaux University , has taken over, hands on with what goes on in the vineyard, re-planting, when to harvest and the winemaking process. The results have been excellent, the 2016 Chateau Corbin Grand Cru Classe has even surpassed the great 2015 that many of you enjoyed. Power matched with elegance, optimal ripeness and superb aromatics. The wine has a great drinking 2024-2040, great to enjoy now and to be enjoyed for many years to come. This is great offer for wine lovers who like to appreciate their wine. A wine you can open with confidence.

(2/28/2019) From a 13-hectare vineyard located north and west of the village of Saint-Emilion, the 2016 Château Corbin (83% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc aged in 50% new oak) showed beautifully in all my tastings. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a beautifully pure, elegant 2016 that gives up lots of limestone character in its red currants, graphite, dried flowers, and earthy aromas and flavors. This medium to full-bodied effort has solid mid-palate depth, a fine, elegant texture, ample structure, and a great finish. It's going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and cruise for 15+ years. Maturity 2021 - 2036.

(11/30/2018) Blended of 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc aged in 50% new French oak for 18 months, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Corbin has quite a meaty nose with smoked meats and beef drippings over a core of black plum preserves with hints of bay leaves and garrigue. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with a great core of muscular fruit and an earthy finish. Drink Date: 2021 - 2037.

(12/2018) The 2016 Corbin is a gorgeous, supple Saint-Émilion that will drink well with minimal cellaring. Floral notes add brightness and energy to a core of red cherry and plum fruit. Hints of chocolate, leather and menthol shape the persistent, substantial finish. A racy wine with no hard edges and tons of pure harmony, the 2016 is simply impeccable today. Tasted two times. Drinking Window 2018 - 2028.
